Say Hello to Lindsey Simcik’s Refined Approach to Design

Minimal and modern, with pops of color!

The transition from your 20s to 30s is an immensely formative time filled with heavy doses of confusion and fear—a feeling Almost 30’s podcast host, Lindsey Simcik, is all too familiar with. From spirituality to wellness to health, she, along with Krista, her co-host, authentically share what they’re going through in real-time.

Of course, podcasting is more than just good conversation and juicy episodes. The podcast studio is the home base, where each episode leaps off the notepad and comes to life. To create crave-able content and having a dedicated, comfortable, quiet space to produce audio is essential.

Naturally inspired by other creators and poking around on furniture sites, she and Krista partnered with Joybird to create their first podcasting sanctuary, so Lindsey couldn’t resist the chance to do it again! The podcast enthusiast has been a Joybird fan for years, using the chic furniture to make their Los Angeles studio come to life. There’s never a guest who leaves without complimenting the inspiring, bright, cozy space.

Recently, engaged Lindsey made a thrilling cross-country move from sunny LA to the heart of New York City. Although she wishes she could fold and pack up her studio in a suitcase to relocate with her, she thought to herself, “How can I make this space feel like ours?” Her goal was to give the new studio its own flavor and flexibility to make it bright, organic, and personal.

Before diving into a purchase, you should always do your research. Ask yourself: What pieces do you want to keep and last for a long time? For those working with a smaller space, think about investing in high-quality furniture to ensure those pieces will remain in good condition or have pieces that are customized uniquely to you and your space.

Once you get your vision, head to Pinterest or collect pictures or objects that speak to the future you want to create, then arrange them on a board for a tangible and aesthetically pleasing reminder of where you're heading.

“I love creating a mood board for design inspiration, moods, textures—so, I would go wild on Pinterest.”

The key to modern living is multi-functional spaces, and Lindsey unlocked the door—specifically to her guest bedroom. The spare space lives a double life as a podcast lounge and music room with the help of the Jolie Swivel Chair, Braxton Sleeper Sofa, and Amina Coffee Table

To put a fresh spin on the interiors, the compact pod-like chair embraces modern comfort, as Lindsey goes from recorder to piano to loop station. Even though the space isn’t that big, and she felt limited in the way to situate the furniture, the statement piece fit perfectly. Its personality demands your attention as you walk in.

“I bought the Amina Coffee Table because I wanted to have this be a podcast lounge, instead of a studio vibe. I wanted people to feel at home and comfortable. And to convert it into a space where I can hang out with my fiance, do my home at work, or have a guest stay, and we can pull out the guest sofa.”

Now that she has gone through decorating two podcast studios for her bi-coastal brand, Lindsey has advice for others who want to create their multi-purpose content haven.

“Have fun with art, plants, and the accessories that can really add a layer of expression and life to your space. Make it your own! Maybe paint your own piece or take your photos and have them featured. I would have fun with that artistic expression. Having a space that is aesthetically beautiful, comfortable, and reflects personality is so important, and you don’t realize it until you have it.”

Don’t let design experience anxieties or style insecurities discourage you from letting the room mirror what makes you feel good! More and more people are making their spaces flexible to work, play, and live—just like Lindsey.
